New Site, avoid like the plague.....

It has come to my attention that there is a new website out there called "Best Tea" located at

however they are not to be confused with the "Best Tea House" in Hong Kong, no relation at all.

At first blush it looks like they have a decent selection at OK prices. However, upon closer inspection many of the pictures and descriptions will look *very* familiar. No, it is not your imagination.... It appears that they have stolen massive amounts of photos and descriptions verbatim from Jing Teashop. Upon careful inspection you will see that they have stolen just about the entire Jing teashop website and claimed it as their own.

This is just one example, the entire site is packed full of similar plagiarizations.

I have spoken with Seb from Jing Teashop and Seb assures me that "Best Tea" is in now way related to them, "Best Tea" does not buy any of their teas from Jing Teashop, and "Best Tea" did not ask permission to use their website content.

Frankly, if their ethics about stealing website content are this low, I would hate to see what their tea business ethics were like. I bet much of their stuff is fake, or at least not what they advertise! Certainly much of what they advertise are teas that were privately sourced by Jing/Seb and are not available on the open market, so it is highly unlikely that these guys have the exact same stuff. You will also note they do not accept credit cards, only wire transfers and such, so you have no protection whatsoever when dealing with them.

I am in no way affiliated with either of these shops, I just can't stand blatant plagiarism. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to avoid these "Best Tea" people like the plague.......

Please tell me why you say this, and give examples of how I am cheating! Afterall, I gave examples to back up what I said.

If I am not telling the truth, then please tell me where you got your photos and descriptions from. I am an honest and fair man, give me a good explanation and I will admit it if I was wrong.

They didn't even try and cover their tracks. The descriptions for their Anxi Oolong Ba Xian starts out with "A new arrival at Jing Tea Shop. This oolong tea race is named Ba Xian.." I guess I'm a beliver too.

Thanks for the heads up. This is the second website in the past week that I've been told to be hacks, and both websites steal considerable amount of images and descriptions from other bona fide vendors. I can't remember the name of the other one, but it was Steven Dodd who told me about it.

many tmes and have had 100% success in getting their product with-in 3-5 business days. They carry amazing loose leaf tea which I adore and have great Customer Service. I dont think if they were a hack they would have a direct line to their office . . .lol

Why do you think they are a hack?

Your accusations are hollow. You make no attempt to explain the thievery of Jing's website. That is the real issue here.

My website is part of my "signature", it appears on every post I make. Your attempts to discredit me will fail. I have done nothing wrong, Best Tea (aka wholesalesea.com, aka nikeusamall) cannot say the same thing.

Tea consumers who read this group are not stupid, you may get away with plagiarism in China but you wont get away with it here........

It's a shame. Mike is so new here, this kind of post may tarnish his reputation. If only he had posted tons of useful info on this newsgroup, we may not be so easily swayed against him by these posts. 8^)

Yes, it is common for ecommerce software to be widely distributed and used by many companies. There is one particular package that I have seen used by hundreds of websites in China.

That's the real issue here. It is not the software they use, but rather the content that they stole. When I said they stole Jing's website I meant the "content" not the actual ecommerce package which is probably open-source freeware.

As someone else (Blues I think) pointed out, the description for this particular tea on Best Tea's website starts out with "A new arrival at Jing Tea Shop" which pretty much proves where they stole it from, there is no way anyone can deny it. Heck several of the pictures still have Jing's ugly URL watermark on them.

These Best Tea (dot CN) guys are little more than Internet Pirates, stealing other honest vendors content unabashedly. I just hope they simply copied the site by browsing it, and that they didn't somehow get to Jings database. ___________ Mike Petro
