Am I a lucky boss?

Dec 23, 2004 1 Replies

I just got as a present from my client a bottle of

Distillers Edition Lagavullin, distilled 1987, bottlet 2003. The glass of the bottle is little tinted, but still the malt looks quite dark.

Any comments about this malt? I would like to hear before I open the bottle and taste myself.

YES! You're lucky!! I had a glass a few weeks ago in a bar. You're right, it is quite dark. Don't know if you know the standard 16yo? That's Very Good, in my opinion. Typically Southern Shore Islay: peat 'n' smoke, but it's a bit more austere than Ardbeg and Laphroaig.

The D.E. is all of the 16yo, beautifully complemented by a subtle touch of sherry, making it more luscious. It's gorgeous. Open it! Or wait for a special occasion, like Christmas. That's not too long from now, I hear!

Enjoy, Marjon
