Wither Octomore?

Way back when... Bruichladdich distilled on the 3rd of October, 2002 a whisky called Octomore. It was billed as having the world's most heavily peated content with a phenolic content of 80.5 parts per million. The production was strictly limited to 800 cases and I have number 343. Jim McEwan anticipates that this dram will need at least eight years in cask before it is ready to be bottled. So I am looking at, at least, another

4 1/2 years.

Has anyone heard any mumblings, rumblings, or bumblings about the progress of this whisky? Anyone else involved in the initial offering?

Well I got to try some of the new make spirit.. aged about 6 months.. lets just say that because I'm such a nice guy I would be willing to take yours off your hands.

I'm prepared to extend the offer by collecting it myself, so you don't even have any petrol expense.

No, no, thank _you_.

Oh no. I could never do that to you. I live in Texas and the petrol cost to you would be horrific! Perhaps we should consider sharing a "virtual" dram when it is finally released?

Ah. Yes, that would be a _little_ bit out of my way..!

I'll hold you to that :-)

Is Octomore something they'll be doing regularly or was it one of their one offs?

I've heard nothing more about it, so I must assume that this was a one off project. Of course, we all know what happens when one assumes!
