TN: Jadot and Roederer

Betsy and I went up to see friends last night-they made a beautiful perfectly cooked Flannery ribeye, corn with sage, and salad. We were greeted with the NV Roederer Brut Champagne. This is a full rich style, with Parker house rolls and apple on nose, broad palate. Despite the richness there is good crispness as well. I?m more a BdB guy but this is good. B+

1998 Jadot ?Clos St. Jacques? Gevrey-Chambertin 1er. I?ve had mixed experiences with ?98s last few years- some coiled, tannic, and angry, others open and giving. This was very much the latter. Lots of damp soil, floral notes, bright red fruits. There is tannin, but not raspy or intrusive. Good balance, length. B+/A-

Good night with good friends

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
