CINCINNATI -- A big shakeup is rumbling across the Queen City brewing
scene as one of the lead brewers is parting ways with his current
brewery.

Kevin Moreland is leaving Listermann Brewing Company to start up his
own shop.

The brewery released a statement Monday morning saying Moreland had
announced his departure after two years and thousands of gallons
brewed at the company.

Under Moreland’s leadership, Listermann brewing grew from 50 bbls
(barrels) per year to a projected 1,300 bbls this year.

“Kevin has been a huge asset to us from the very beginning,” owner Dan
Listermann said in a release. “I feel we have a great team in place to
maintain the standard he has set here and continue to grow.”

During his tenure at Listermann, Moreland started up their Triple
Digit brand and created a growing lineup of beers and a barrel-aging
program.

Assistant brewer Patrick Gilroy will succeed Moreland as head brewer.

Gilroy was a coffee roaster at Coffee Emporium and an avid homebrewer
before getting his start under Moreland a year ago.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity,” Gilroy said in a
release. “I look forward to maintaining the high quality of beer Kevin
has established, and adding my own twist to some others and new ones.”

The company said Moreland will be staying on for the next 60 days to
help with the transition.

All of the core beers Moreland has produced will be staying at the
brewery.
