Here's one for sale on the internet that's BIGGER and CHEAPER (at least to my zip code) It has FREE shipping to the lower 48, is a 14.5 (rather than this 12.2) gallon stainless.

Not affiliated, blah blah. Just thought that I'd help the buyers beware as it were.

Thanks for posting this reply Rick. This has been burning my ass for some time. Ebay is probably one of the last places to find a deal on anything. All you see these days are people acquiring new product from some distributer and throwing it up on Ebay in hopes of making a fast buck.

Now we are seeing more leaches like this spamming this group in hopes of getting a nibble from some unsuspecting homebrewer.

Ok, getting clothes and crappy little trinkets you put on the fireplace mantle from these pricks on Ebay are one thing - those I can understand. But homebrew equipment.... that's just sacrilege!!

Time for another...

Ricky, I agree that Ebay is not a cost effective source of resold (new) items. I will say that I have found many tremendous used items at great deals. Most of the Swagelok fittings for my brewery come from Ebay at about ten cents on the dollar (they are new but surplus items). I also picked up the entire Brewing Techniques series for $25.

There are deals on Ebay but you have to be patient.

Burp,

-Dan

so then you agree that because you are unknown, you do not maintain a business, your reputation is unknown, you are not invloved in brewing as far as anyone can tell, you sell marchandise without warranty, to a buyer who does not have the oppurtunity to actually see the product, over the internet, you will do us a tremendous favor and let it go for $50 less than

*most* retail stores.

gee whiz. wow. thanks mister!

Or, as I've pointed out before, if everyone selling brewing stuff on Ebay decided to hawk it here, it would be a VERY bad thing. FA and FS posts are looked at unfavorably. Ken

Well, gee, I guess you've never used ebay, or at least haven't bothered to check my feedback. I have 635 positive feedbacks out of .... 635. That's 100%. So out of 635 transactions 635 people have been happy with me. Can you prove that you are of similar reliability?

With all due respect to all parties Limited advertisements are allowed and accepted. However, this medium is totally about the defined aspects of brewing beer and does not in any way asociate with the  affiliated  marketing or selling of any product or resource whatsoever.  There is a provision however, if you put the word ADV before your  post, it is recognized as such. So unless you are talking about beer, put the AVD before and then we all know that you're just lookin for sales and/or money.

Nostrovia!!!!

I agree with you 100%, and was by no means saying "don't buy on eBay"...I just didn't want to have someone buy something that was in no way a 'good deal' in my opinion. I buy far too much on ebay, at a GOOD deal, heh heh.

Heh, heh. Hell, I've never sold a single thing on e-Bay, and you're telling us that you've gotten _feedback_ on 635 transactions, and I presume that unless feedback is mandatory, that you've probably had a significant number of additional transactions for which there is no feedback. I'm not as stupid as I look. ;-) It sounds to me like you are running an actual business on e-Bay, which is your prerogative, but I personally condemn your post for what it clearly is: SPAM. God, could you imagine what usernet would be like if everyone with a business decided to post an ad even just once a year? It wouldn't be worth using!!! So please get your lame, spamming ass off of this group. No one with any sense is going to support a spammer, and that's exactly what you appear to be. I find it really hard to believe that someone who has peddles stuff on eBay as much as you have is trying to sell this brand new unused item without making a dime. I have therefore sent a complaint to eBay reporting this as SPAM. For someone who uses their service as much as you claim, you ought to know that spamming is a violation of eBay policy and terms of use. If you spam this group again, I'm going to encourage every single member of these groups to each file a complaint with eBay, and maybe you won't have anything to advertise here after that. So, please find another way to sell your stuff.

Probably some geek that paid for one of those "Make millions at home from E-Bay auctions" programs trying to get revenge on a gullible public.

A couple of carboy caps and stands, invert 2 6.5 gallon carboys, and you have the same capacity and functionality for much less money.

I would like to quote Texas Brews. It is the philosophy that I live by.

"Brewing beer is neither complicated nor expensive. It's the responsibility of the brewer to make it as complicated and expensive as their wife's will allow. Great beer is made in small pots in a kitchen; our beer is made in larger pots in the garage. People have been brewing spectacular beers for thousands of years; we've been brewing mediocre beers for a few months. Since we've been brewing for months, we're naturally experts. Read on, you'll see we have all the answers -- its just the questions that have us confused."

I have personally spent several hundred dollars buying equipment to make my favorite mediocre beer and have recently spent a few hundred dollars on e-bay buying more toys for home brewing. Simply put, it has kept me off the street for some time updating my system and brewing bigger and better mediocre beer. Personally I think saved a few dollars buying the stuff on e-bay. If not, don't blow my illusion but most of all, don't tell my wife.

Um, are you saying that all of those 'other' transactions are from people that aren't happy with what I sold them? You'd think they'd leave feedback if they were unhappy.

The posting started with a "FA:" indicator. You don't have to read it, and if you do, that's your problem. You don't own this newsgroup; it's a public forum and I can post whatever I want, whenever I want. Feel free to bitch. I've posted two items for sale in this news group over the years so I don't feel I am abusing this forum ( I don't give a shit if you think otherwise). My 'spamming ass'? Screw you.

I sell some electronics on ebay. Yes I make some money on that. I do not make it a habit of selling brewing equipment there. This is a one off on a brand new item and is at cost. You won't find one of these for less than $500. I am not making anything on this - not that I give a rip if you believe that or not. That's your perogative.

Again, you don't own this newsgroup. It's a public forum. You can complain to ebay all you want. I am not SENDING YOU or anyone else unsolicited emails. This is a posting to a public forum - you don't have to read any "FA:" posts if you choose not to. I can post a million messages about my auctions here if I want to. Ebay has no problem with that. This will however be the last. Not because I'm 'afraid' of your empty threat, but because I don't make it a point of selling brewing stuff.

Get over it and move on.

I agree that posting links to eBay auctions here is

100% noise, and shouldn't be tolerated.

However, eBay is just another source for buying things. I bought a few tap handles on eBay, and got a good deal on a two-gauge CO2 regulator (yes, it was one of those "new in the box" redistribution deals, but cheaper than the local welding supply place or other online sources even with shipping). I've also acquired a few beer-related odds and ends, like the old wooden tap or two plus a couple bung-hole borers (which are great conversation starters ;-). You just have to be patient to get a good product and price-- I was amazed at how much some people ended up paying for some of those regulators-- and be willing to look through a lot of crap to find what you need.
