Beer garden coming to Findlay Market in OTR

OVER-THE-RHINE - Beginning Saturday Findlay Market will be home to a seasonal beer garden.

A venture between Findlay Market, the Over-the-Rhine Foundation and the Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation, the Biergarten at Findlay Market will be open every weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Hours are Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m. The Beirgarten will be located at the southwest corner of the market, off of Elm Street. Organizers are planning live music for each weekend. Christian Moerlein lagers and ales, Hudepohl and Burgers Beer brands will be served. "In the 1800's there were easily a dozen breweries in Over-the-Rhine and West End and the beer gardens were natural offshoot where people went out ate, listened to music, danced and drank beer much like we do today," said Cheryl Eagleson of Findlay Market. "It's another way to bring people down and it gives the market even more of a destination feel." Christian Moerlein Brewing Company is the presenting sponsor and proceeds will benefit the Over-the-Rhine Foundation and the Brewery District. A grand opening celebration is slated for May 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Findlay Market.
