I'm sure any random Herr Budweiser would pronounce it differently than Americans do. But...

"Bud" like "buddy" or "umbrella", not like "Buch".

"Weiser" sounds like "wiser", rhymes with "miser". A German might say it sounds like "visor", but we don't pronounce the W that way.

Damn, I don't know if I'm impressed or disappointed.

Such a perfect set-up for a wise-ass remark (so perfect, in fact, and so tempting, that I figured it must be a troll at work) and then- two serious answers.

I'm betting that the "Italian girl" aspect brought out the chauvinism in these guys. Would they have been so grammar school teacher helpful if the question had been-

"Aye, me an' me mates was wonderin' if you Yanks could tell us how yous pronounce that piss yellow s**te- Budweiser? And, what do you do with it- polish your Japanese cars? Stella RULES!"

English pronunciation: Bud-wise-er (the "bud" rhymes with "mud")

German pronounciation: Bood-vy-ser (the "bood" rhyming roughly with the English "good"; if you know German, it's the standard "u" sound, like in "unter" or "grund")

ObSmartAss response: the right pronunciation is "yellow beer-flavored water for people who don't really like the taste of beer," for the American version. For the Czech version, it's "well-made pale lager from the Czech Republic." HTH. HAND.

Hello Signora,

My imagination is running wild. Why do you need to know? What do you look like? What are you wearing?

Budweiser is named after a city in the Czech Republic by the name of Budweis. I actually drove through it once on my way to Prague. So beer from Budweis is named Budweiser. BTW, Budweis is pronounced Bood' veis.
