Disappearing wikipedia page about Beer Index

Yesterday I created this page, it disappeared from wikipedia (english.)

What to do to keep it from disappearing again? Now why would someone take it away from there it being the most perfect information to any encyclopedia?

Current content:

-------------------------------------------- The beer index is an informal way of measuring happiness in people by the scientifical method of comparing the price of a pint of beer to his income. High price and low income means unhappy, even suicidal, whereas low price and high income means happy. This is a variant of the Bic Mac index of the Economist magazine which measures the happiness of children, whereas the Beer Index measures the happiness of adult men. Generally the southern men are happier than the northern men because of the high variations in the price of beer caused by governments either pursuing the happiness of people or the unhappiness of people. Countries with high price of beer compared to income also have the highest rates of suicide.

As happiness is a hard-to-measure psychological factor, yet a very important thing in people's lives, it is believed this index is the most perfect way of measuring it.

Here are some beer prices, compiled from the usenet groups, data from

2003. Please add your own here in order to make this scientific encyclopedia page more accurate.

Generally the wages in Denmark and US are highest, in England, Canada and Germany somewhat lower and in Finland even lower..

Suffolk, England USD 6.50, London USD 10.50 or more Southern US 4.50-5 for a pint Copenhagen, Denmark 16.10-17.71 for a litre Espoo, Finland 5.50-9.60 (typical)-14 for a liter Paderborn, Germany one-two pils 7.20 liter Toronto, Canada 5-6 nice pubs

Your article compares itself as a variant of the big mac index. The big mac index page cites references, has sufficient detail and reads like an encyclopedic article should. (ref:

)

Your article, on the other hand, reads like a chain letter (and honestly, is describing the same concept as the big mac index, just with a different, possibly incomparable product...which is probably not that useful)

Good. I hope it stays gone. Too bad you insist on keeping it there.

Because it's (1) poorly written, (2) nonsense, and (3) you're an idiot.

Because it isn't. It's crap. Quit whining and go get whacked with a clue-by-four.

Scientifical? Is this a word?

You, essentially, posted some silly shit on wiki and are upset that the powers that be don't feel it's worthy of posting (which is pretty sad considering other things listed there).

Move on.

You've really answered your own question with the above sentence. The problem is exactly that it's nothing more than a concept. You wrote an article describing something you think would be interesting, even though no such index really exists. I think it's intriguing, but what you should really do would be along the lines of collecting data on beer consumption per capita, beer prices adjusted to some normal baseline [possibly exchange rates] and then compare that data to the Mac Index to see if there is a correlation that can be established. Then you should publish that information via some peer review formula or your own personal website, a blog, or some such. THEN, you need to maintain (update) the beer index over time. If it gains enough credibility, a Wikipedia article would most likely be written referencing a multitude of sources establishing the Beer Index as a viable measure of happiness.

Yes - I realize I'm wasting my bits here, but I do think it's an interesting concept. Just not appropriate for a Wikipedia entry at this point.

But a Big Mac is a product with very little variation around the world, as it is the brand of a single company with global presence, and that company attempts to maintain consistent standards across the enterprise. A Big Mac in London or Moscow shouldn't be appreciably different than a Big Mac in Washington, DC, or Des Moines, Iowa.

This is clearly not the case with beer, as variety and quality - and price - varies widely all over the world. It doesn't make sense to compare, say, Westvleteren 12 in Belgium with Brahma Chopp in Brazil.

Feh. It's Usenet.
