Dogfish Head 90 Minute vs Rogue Imperial Pale Ale..

Wow. What a tough one to call! The Rogue is definitely hoppier(which I love) but the Dogfish is very nicely balanced.(Which I also love) After much deliberation, I'd have to call it a virtual tie. ;^)

Best regards, Bill PS: Yeah, it's an East coast vs West coast thing. Very, VERY slight edge to Dogfish Head.

having never tasting them side by side (and being unduly influenced by the time I had the 90 minute from the cask) I have to agree with you but I know both are much better than the 120 minute IPA.

Bah. 120min. is an incredible beer. Unfortunately, imo, the 12oz. bottles don't do it nearly the justice the 750mL bottles did, but still, fine stuff.

I found the 22-ounce bottles of 120-minute IPA I had to be seriously underattenuated-- sweet, worty, hard to drink. Maybe other bottlings were better, I dunno.

As for the original question, I won't wimp out on it. Give me 90-minute IPA any day. It's The Malt. About once a year I buy a commercial keg. This past year's was 90-Minute IPA, and I enjoyed every last drop of it. (Well, that's not quite true... lots of other people enjoyed a few drops of it, too.)

This is a tad OT, but how do you guys afford the Dogfish head stuff? One bottle of 120 (12 oz) goes for eight bucks, and a FOUR PACK of just the brown ale is close to $14.00! I have a hard time taking a chance with those kind of prices. I *did* buy a 4 pack of the 90 minute and had to dump one of the bottles, probably due to age. The rest of the bottles were better but certainly not stellar.

I haven't seen any of their products in bombers or 750ml.

I believe I established my credentials on despising the 120, but I have to admit that later bottlings, in 12 oz., were much, much better. Still a bit sweet, but definitely much more enjoyable. I'd still rather -- much rather -- have 90 Minute.

never was able to find it in the 750. The 12 oz I tried wasn't terrible by any means and I think it'd be interesting to drink about 3 oz. at a time but I left almost half of the 120 on the bar as the cloyingness got to me (and my stomach), I can't imagine working my way through a 750 unless I had 6 or 7 people to share it with.

I agree. The 120's I tried were sweet beyond my tolerance level.

I don't drink them very often which is partly due to the fact that they are hard to find in Norcal and partly due to the price. I sucked it up and paid the $9 for the WWS (well worth it) and found the 120 for a measly $6 (in a bar no less). I used to be able to get some (pale, Indian brown, 60 IPA) at Trader Joes for $6 a 6 pack but they don't carry it any more.

I've bought the Indian Brown before. I don't recall it being near the price you quote..from Ft. Collins, Co.

Btw, I think it's about the SHIT as far as brown ales go. The only serious contender to it, for me, is the Nut Brown from Sammy Smith.

Heh, it can be done be an individual...

I probably drank it quicker than I should of, but I found it intriguing. For what it's worth, I think even I prefer the

90 Minute, but the way I see it, for every 4 60s and 4 90s I have, I'd like a 120 to match. Why settle for just one of them?

Boy, sure wish I could find the Bulbous Brown again though...

You're getting ripped off. I pay $9 for a Four Pack in mid-NJ. Leo

Give Rogue some credit for originating this style in the first place.
