How many beer bottles do you have?

As a follow-up to my post "how do you take yours", I was interested in who else saves their bottles, how many they have et, et. I have a few saved. I have a Stone RUINATION!, just because their designs are so cool, and their one of the few silk-screened beer bottles I've seen (yeah, I live in Wyoming). I'm up to 6 worthy bottles (still fit on the fridge) of either memorable beer, or bottle. Anyone else nostalgic like this?

I only keep the labels after drinking the beer I had to get the labels off the bottles because of the space the bottles take. Now I've got lots of albums with labels from beers I tasted myself Thisyear I'll ad nr 5000 to my collection Have a look at my homepage

I have a Stone Arrogant Bastard bottle (I agree, the designs are cool), and a few others that looked interesting. I've got one Mississippi Mud bottle saved because it looks like something a jug band might play. :-)

I don't save bottles (one bedroom apt, no room!), but I do save labels. That is if it's a paper one. My Irish day derby is papered from years of gluing on the labels of that years celebratory beer. This year I added Guinness Extra Stout and Harp's. I did want to save the Old Speckled Hen bottles, but then I thought I might appear trashy :P Maybe next time I'll save one.

I used to save unique bottles, but after a few years of building up a collection of unique bottled that pretty much just sat on a shelf that could be used for more useful things, I stopped, and threw most of them away. I still have a few sitting around for decorative purposes. Now if you want to talk useless passions you should find one of those "completeness" collectors who line their living rooms (or Mom's basement :-0) with cans and bottles. ;-)

Don't tend to save bottles, as I just don't have the space. I made an exception for my Apis Jadwiga mead, one of the greatest substances the world has ever seen. Cool bottle, too.

I have a rather large collection of bottles, somewhere around

300....not exactly sure as it increases in size every week. They make a rather nice addition to my living room. People love to check out all the cool bottles I have. Alas! I am running out of room for many more than what I have now.

Surprised you got that far, unless there's space the wife doesn't have to see in your house, ever.

Down to maybe a half-dozen. Moving will do that to a collection.

Think of your negotiating position during the inevitable divorce! Plus, a man with such dedication to his "hobby" is sure to be a hot property among the ladies.

I actually drink the beer and throw away the bottles or smash them into millions of bits. For some strange reason, I always only cared about the beer.

Hey, that's my post!

OK, maybe not. I ended up saving none. I did initially save a few, but during a great purge of many posessions when I moved a few years back (moving into a 600 sq ft apartment in the heart of Chicago forces such decisions), I got rid of the remainder.

It's not like I couldn't recreate the collection again if I wanted to. Just buy lots of beer.

Well, the "used for more useful things" translates into my homebrew area. It's my space, dangit!

Undoubtedly. But as counter space in doublewides is at a premium, it may turn into a liability.

Well, old-style Thomas Hardy bottles are hard to come by, and where will you ever get another "Nick Bruels" edition Shakespeare Stout bottle? There are a few others I have as well, like Old Crusty nips with the really old design.

You can see part of my collection on the shelf up high on the wall.

Point.

Hopefully nowhere. That thing gave me nightmares.

Yeah, there are some revised designs that are eternally lost to me now. Somehow, I seem to be coping OK. The bottle collection is one of those things I hemmed and hawed on getting rid of, but I've found myself wishing I had it exactly zero times since I got rid of it.

How special. Bithc.

I am still trying to figure out how to brew using our "new" Easy-Bake Oven and zero counter space. That's gonna be some Wit brewed in a couple weeks and ready for drinking in June. I'll send you some/all of it.

Eh. One can move. There's lots of space near major Interstate exits. Under bridges, for instance.

I took a look and signed the guestbook. Very impressive. Just one thought though....drinking all those different beers, you must come across a lot of bad ones. It looks as though it would be hard to settle down to enjoy favorite often if you were to drink 5000 in a year. Also, do you drink the whole beer?

Hello Mike Thanks for your reaction I'm collecting over 20 years now, from almost the first day I had a beer There is a counter on my site that shows the beers I had every year since

1998. Because more people know from my beerpassion the amount of new beers increases every year! And indeed there are some realy bad beers amongst them. From all the almost 5000 I guess there are 5 I tasted less then a glass of it. But in these cases I tasted more then half a glass! (Take something to eat with the beer if its realy bad)

greetings from the netherlands

My collection was all over my apartment before I got married once I moved in with the wife they all got boxed up.

Exactly why I got rid of most of mine although it took 2 moves for me to finally throw all of them out. Well almost all I kept my Rogue (about 20 so far) and managed to get them displayed in our office/spare room.

I do save 6-pack holders, I've got about a case and a half of those sitting in my beer cellar (closet). I pass them on to a friend who puts them up on his website, but then they just sit in my closet I just can't get myself to throw them away even after moving with them twice.
