I'd never join a "taste test" where I needed to drink either of those peice of shit beers. It's great people like you are on this earth to drink that crap so the rest of us can enjoy real beer.

Please, I know they're shit beers. Its not like I don't drink my Dogfish Head and my Dead Guy Ale and my Lambicks. But shit beers have a place in this world.

I'm sure in a sober taste test, one couldn't tell the difference either.

I am not fond of either, but I think you could easily. The bud-miller-coors have less off and weird (metallic, sour, chemically, ozony?) tastes then the cheaper megabrews. I think you could pick Miller out of the bunch as well; to me it has more of the off flavors.

Bet Lew's right. Due to circumstances I won't get into, I had occasion a couple years back to sample some of the big brewer's products (normal and "light") to see which was least offensive. Miller Genuine Draft easily came out on top as the one that (a) had the least off flavors (as defined by me), and (b) tasted the most like beer. A had a few MGDs that year.

for my tastebuds... MGD stands out, in a bad way.

I find the Miller products, most notably Icehouse-High Life-MGD, the least offensive of the megabrews with PBR and Henry Weinhardt's Pale Ale running a close second. Coors...imho, everything they make sucks ass. No exceptions.(even though at one time, I thought their Winterfest brews had some redeeming qualities and their George Killian's Red *ALE* was quite nice)

Best regards, Bill

I recently tried the new Rheingold 1883. Looks like MGD has some competition.

Which is, what?- A "cheaper megabrew brewed by a micro"? (Man, things are sure strange in brewing these days.) Are they bottling it or is it just draught coming out of NYC and the bottles still out of Utica? They got a small bit of publicity with the "return to Brooklyn" but, in general, these "reborn" old brands haven't done so well, have they? Jones in NH, Sheridan in WY, that one out of DC (name?)... It seems ACME is probably the most successful.

I'd guess that whatever fans these old brands had are getting rather old, used to Miller Lite and not willing to spend micro prices on beer.

Do you actually think you're worth the 25 cents for the bullet? I bet you're wrong.

I can deal with Icehouse and Killian's. I used to drink Icehouse a lot, before I got adventuresome and found there's a whole other world of brews out there.

Rheingold 1883 is (supposedly) a dark lager. It has a lot of ale-like qualities. It's being brewed at the Green Point Beer Works, in Brooklyn and sold only in kegs.
