Queen City Fresh: Mt. Carmel Brewing unveils new Imperial IPA amid Bluegrass Bandstand series

CINCINNATI -- Fans of bluegrass, beer and BBQ will be able to get their fix this week as the sounds of summer return to Washington Park.

The Bluegrass Bandstand returns to Thursday nights at the park starting this week.

In addition to all the bands, patrons can sip on beer from Mt. Carmel Brewing Co, and munch on delicious food from Eli’s BBQ.

This year’s version starts this Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and continues throughout the summer until Aug. 8.

Musically, Jake Speed and Freddies along with the Red Cedars kick off the series. For the complete bands listing, click here.

The brewers at Mt. Carmel are unleashing a new addition to their Snapshot series during the event.

They describe their new Imperial IPA as “citrusy, sticky and stanky”

-- great for BBQ. They brewed the new beer with an “unhealthy” amount of Zythos, Amarillo, Columbus and Citra hops.

Mt. Carmel describes the beer as “the color of something picked from a Georgia peach tree.”

The beer joins the ranks of the brewery’s 9-year-old line of limited release beers. The Imperial IPA comes in the wake of the Ardennes Belgian Quad and Obsidian Black Rye IPA.

The new beer will also be released throughout Ohio following the event.
