Re: Czech beers sold in North America

Hi. I've heard so many good things about Czech beer. What brands should

I was pleased to find bottled Pilsner Urquell in a bar/grill 3-4 blocks north of Times Square when I was in New York a few years ago. (I think the place was called "Screenwriter", "Stagewriter" or something like that, but I couldn't find it again with any of the online YP services.) Highly recommended! Made my trip even more enjoyable!

Is Pilsner Urquell hard to find elsewhere? I think every store has it in NY.

Boom and Rebel are also common.

Maybe in some of the more remote backwaters. Pilsner Urquell is owned by SABMiller, and it's pretty easy to find in most American cities, at least the ones that are moderately civilized.

Staropramen sometimes, and of course Czechvar (substitute "Bud" for "Czech" to figure out which beer that actually is). Sometimes there's Radegast, too, as well as Lobkowitz.

Yes, but the local supermarket has been selling Boom at 99 cents per

16-ounce bottle :-)

Imported by the same Brooklyn company that brings Baltika to the usa, by the way. The other thread asking opinions of Baltika got no response, so I suppose it isn't getting distributed much past the port of entry.
