Update and You guys Rock!

Well on a daring trip to a "World Market" store instead of the usual buying place I was jaw-dropped in awe at their selection!! Had I not had advice and suggestions for what makes a true good beer (heh not a King of beer) I would have been lost! Imports, Six packs of all sorts I never have heard of, and Pints galore, I went crazy, but the wife allowed only a six pack!! Nice thing is, that most of the six packs had a shelf of singles to make your OWN six pack!!

Here are the 4 I tried but the other 2 got ate by the trash can moster heh heh.

Birra Moretti, Imported from Italy - Dissappointing, a very bland lager taste with no head what so ever. But I have had a beer from Italy now!!

(?) Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel (Bavarian dark lager) - Pint bottle very rich for what I was expecting, good hops flavor for what I wanted from it.

MacTarnahan's Blackwatch Cream Porter (wife's favorite) - More porter I try the more I love them! Excellent head in my glass and the arouma was as deep as the flavor! I shall get more of these! ((PS The store had pints of something like Tabbi's Porter and I *WILL* be trying many of these this weekend))

Sierra Nevada Stout - Dark soothing beer, great thick head on my glass, Gave a deeper meaning then a Porter did and was much enjoyed.

I know this doesnt count as a fancy beer report but to say the least, A.B guided me from a sorry NAIL drinker to someone who appricates the bouquet of beers available!!!!

If anyone has other comments on these beers or more info on the "Tabbi Porter"?? Please respond I'd love to hear from you all!!!

Never heard of it and can't find it in the ratebeer.com database, but given your experience I think you could benefit from a visit to ratebeer.com, it can help guide your next purchases and figure out which beers to avoid, etc. Of course your tastes may well differ from theirs, but its a good starting point.

Have bought at World Markets before (they're like a Pier One that has some food, wine, and beer for sale here in VA at least). Decent selection, carry Unibroue if nothing else, but have noticed a tendency that the beer isn't always the freshest. Good selection, but might want to check dates on labels before buying.

I wish I had thrown the Ziegen Bocks a friend of a friend gave me. A-B product made only for the Texas market. Poor Texas. :^(

I never thought much of it. Their double malt is pretty good though I do find it gets on my nerve after a while.

I've not had this one..

nor this one. I've had a few McTarnahans aka Portland Brewing products. I used to love their Woodstock IPA cause it was maltier than your typical IPA. Last batch I had tasted fairly ordinary.

Never heard of Tabbi's porter. Domestic or import?

Sierra Nevada is a pillar of consistency, in my book. Pale ale, Stout, Celebration, or Big Foot.... you just can't go wrong.

Fancy schmancy..just say it like it is=the way you perceive it and all will be well in the world.

Might you be referring to Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter, from the olde brewery, Tadcaster?

IIRC, Tabby porters taste like cat piss.

Whoaa..I'm hoping you're remembering incorrectly. The last time I had Sam Smith products here, years ago, the Taddy Porter(and Nut Brown Ale) were very good examples of their type, imho.(The NBA is the prototype AFAIC)
