Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA

Damn, this is one super hoppy DIPA! I've tasted a few DIPAs that have a respectable malt presence to somewhat balance the brew out but...this isn't one of them. My hat is off to said brewery for making a most drinkable and enjoyable sample of the style!

Sounds good. I was in Chapel Hill, NC for the UNC - VaTech game this weekend. The tarheels got the tar beat oughta them!

To console ourselves we stopped by the Carolina Brewery on Franklin St. for some mighty fine house brewed IPA. That hoppy brew went exceptionally well with a platter of german sausages, kraut and other german goodies.

I haven't tried Double Simcoe. I've had Weyerbacher's Hops Infusion IPA, but found it a bit thin (supposedly, however, they've changed it fairly recently). Weyerbacher's Old Heathen is a very good imperial stout.

I too love this beer! I bought 2 cases from Whole Foods in Washington, DC. This is a wonderful DIPA indeed. I found several beers at the GABF06 that also seemed to be using this simcoe hop, which I understand is a hop created for this style. Jim Maar

I bought a 6pack of that on my last trip to Colorado. It has a lot of sediment in it...is that how it's supposed to be? Anywhoo, it's pretty darned tasty.

I never noticed the sediment, though you are probably right. I don't know if it is supposed to be that way or not, I only came across it at my favorite pub a couple months ago. If I remember, I will check for sediment the next time I have one. I don't know where you are located but I never came across this beer here in Pennsylvania until recently. The bartender said that it has become one of his best selling microbrews.
