Wolaver Pale & Oatmeal Stout

Jan 22, 2005 3 Replies

...got 'em in my beer of the month delivery. The Pale is good stuff(pretty tasty in the Malt dept) but the Oatmeal Stout is very good! Pop the cap off and take a whiff...no doubt what's about to hit your glass. ;^)

Also got some Arcadia Nut Brown: not a Sammy Smith tasting son of a gun but not bad. Arcadia IPA: Not too bad either. Maybe the hop bitterness makes it a bit 1 dimensional but I can see how it could have a pretty sizeable following.

Best regards, Bill

A guy I've run into at the Great Taste of the Midwest beerfest every year turned me onto this one, and it got me back into IPAs. Arcadia also makes an "Oat Malt Stout" (called Starboard IIRC) which is pretty tasty too.

I had the chance to try this the other day but passed over it in favor of the God of oatmeal stouts: Ipswich. I've tried Wolaver's IPA, though, and thought it was okay.

The oatmeal stout taste a bit like Murphy's Irish Stout, but smoother like a milk shake. Top of the line stuff, I agree.
