Almost anything from Burrow Hill, especially their Kingston Black. Not cheap or easy to find though.

A belated Happy New Year,

This is slightly off topic, but is something I think the members of this group will have knowledge of, so I'm hoping for a little help.

I'm looking for information on companies (web sites, address, telephone number and contact names, if you have them) who produce strong ciders in the UK and are able to supply it in 500ml or 330ml bottles. If you work at a brewery who make cider, we would love to hear from you too.

More importantly, I'm hoping members of this group will be able to recommend a scrumpy or cider that they found pleasing on the palette and easy to drink.

If it goes down deceptively easily but reaps revenge in the morning, it would fit with the use we are hoping to put it to.

As some of you may know, we produce a range of Discworld Beers. The next one to be released is "Nanny Oggs Scumble", a super strong scrumpy / cider containing "mostly apples" as Terry Pratchett puts it.

And as an incentive to help out, those making suggestions will receive a single bottle free of charge when we go into production.

Many thanks in advance for your help. Please e-mail me at paul snipped-for-privacy@bursarvixen.com with your suggestions.

The biggest suppliers of high-quality bottled ciders are probably Westons of Much Marcle:

Their Special Vintage and Organic ciders are widely available in supermarkets.

Lots of good information and there is also a mailing list associated with the site where you can get advice from lots of friendly cider people.
