Looks like our best brewpub may not rise from the ashes as quickly as hoped, and it may not rise at all.

"San Antonio-based Hixon Properties Inc., which owns the Bitter End and an adjoining parking lot where it plans to build a boutique hotel, informed Reed Clemons, general partner of the Bitter End Brewery Ltd., last week that it was exercising its option to terminate the restaurant's lease."

Sucks. The Bitter End was the oldest brewpub in town, and it produced consistently interesting and high quality beers, courtesy of Tim Schwartz (now at Real Ale), then Brian Peters (formerly of Live Oak). They also served up some pretty good food. Hopefully, Clemons will find a new space and this won't be the end.
