I am new to Greek/Turkish type coffee making in ibriks. I just got one of the traditional ibriks (you know the one that looks something like an upside down funnel) by online order. Now, I have been looking around the local stores (and and a little on line) trying to determine what might be a really good method of heating the little pot.
I had been trying to use the ol' kitchen gas stove at my home. So far, I have have made some drinkable coffee, but have not been able to maintain the foam.
In an attempt to try something different, I did buy a small propane "stove" and a propane cylinder to try, but when I got home I saw warnings about not usiing the propane stove in the house because of carbon monoxide, I thought, "Maybe this isn't such a good idea after all." Then I thought I would see what kinds methods other people are using. Maybe I would find that lots of folks use those propane burners inside and perhaps I was being overly concerned about noxious gasses and so on. But, then again, I might find out about something I hadn't even thought of. So, I would appreciate any thoughts you might have about heating coffee in an ibrik indoors. Thanks, Di
