all grain water calculation

I've only brewed about four batches from recipe books, so I'm still basically an all grain beginner.

I received an all-grain kit over the holidays and the recipe doesn't specify how large the batch is supposed to be. Can someone tell me how to calculate how much wort I'm supposed to end up with in the fermenter? I don't need mash or sparge amounts, just a final (drinkable) figure.

Thanks!

Ken

Well, with 13 lbs of fermentables, and depending upon your efficiency, this could make anywhere from 5 to 6 gallons in the fermenter. 5 gallons would yield a stronger brew, 6 gallons would make a less strong one. You can just boil down or dilute up to get the volume you want. I'm sure it would be a noticable difference, but it will make good beer at either volume.

Perhaps someone will give a more definite answer....

((Also, you could check out some of the recipe web pages and see what volumes similar recipes specify.))

Thanks Derric. I've had ProMash sitting on my computer for a year now and completely forgot that I installed it. The water calculator helped me out.
