oh, the anticipation-

ok, everyone - the new-season greens are going to begin trickling in over the next few weeks, prior to the mid-april deluge. care to divulge your purchasing strategy this year?

i'm undecided, but the first two orders will certainly be placed with vendors in china...................................................p*

Along those lines I also have a question or maybe more appropriately a bit of a gripe...on Imperial Tea Court's website they have (under the What's New link) a Long Jing. But they don't say what year this Longjing is. I am presuming that it is 2004 but it gives the impression that it is something brand new and that people need to hurry because it won't last etc. link here:

I don't like to have to guess when a tea was made.

I find this on quite a few websites, they don't give the year of the crop that they're selling and it's very frustrating given how tea deteriorates (especially greens) over time. Ahyhow, I'm going to keep my eyes open, I don't have a strategy except to wait and see if there is a syncronicity between me and some spring green tea somewhere....vague enough I guess, :)

Melinda,

Good point, always ask. They will very very seldom actually lie. BTW, when the 2005's become available they will all be crowing. You'll hear it from your window. The ITC is 2004, and they usually do mention the year when it isn't current. That's my experience.

You'll say I'm a bastard after I say this, but I'm getting on a plane and going to Hangzhou probably this weekend or the next to get my longjing. Guanxi (business friendship...you pat my back I'll pat yours, sorta thing) is nice to have from time to time.

oh yeah that sounds good.... lol

after joining this group I've been considering so seriously that after I graduated I'll get a TESL cert and get myself over to China, mainly for the tea.

You don't need a certificate as most of them are worthless as the paper they are printed on. You can easily get a job teaching English over here, but things are quite different than you might think. If you want info on any specific questions, please email me.

I feel like a vulture sitting in a tree waiting...

After I get a bunch of samples, I'll be transformed into a shark in a feeding frenzy.
