tea bags wanted

To all, I am a beginning collector of tea bag-covers (the small printed cover around the actual tea bag) and to make a good start of my international collection I am looking for those from all over the world, especially outside the Netherlands. As most people throw them in the waste paper, I would like to ask if you could maybe collect them and send some samples to me. Duplicates are of course also welcome, as I would like to go to collector fairs with opportunities to exchange them. So the more (different) the better....

If you would like to help, please send them to Martina Starovicova Food-Info.net PO Box 8129

6700 EV Wageningen the Netherlands

In return I can send items from Holland (tea ?)

i'm curious - what about the string and the little staple some have,

do you cut the string or remove it?

I think the OP means the actual outer jacket that the teabag comes in, not the tag. I have a number of really unique ones which are artistic that I have framed. I'll see what I have around and since they are light I'd send them out. I never knew there were collectors for this sort of thing, who knew?

It is indeed the outer jacket that I am looking for !

It is a large enough hobby in Holland, Belgium and the Czech Republic and also in some other countries... There are even international collector fairs for this !

Sounds like a nice colorful diverse hobby, if i buy tea bags i'll keep a couple, send some out. do tea bag collectors also keep the little string & tag attached ? are there specialized collectors - tea bag only, or tea bag label only ?

OH... *smacks forehead* Now I understand what you meant initially. You mean like a Lipton teabag where the outer jacker has a perforated section which becomes the tag. Now I get what you meant. Totally my fault there... Sorry.

That is a good question, I was just thinking wrong.

PS When that lightbulb just went off I could have lit a small city. :)

You know, I had two outer jackets of _Indar The_ framed on the wall in my office for years, and I just gave the thing away to the thrift store a couple weeks ago..... you are just a little bit too late.

I only collect the paper cover (jacket), but there are indeed collectors who collect everything, including the tea itself, or just the tea bag tags.... Also the paper boxes in which the bags are packed are collectable for some.

With the sealed ones, I usually open these carefully approximately 60% just under the seal and get the actual bag out. That works in most cases fine.
