Bought from Yue Hwa in HK, Oct 2006. Green, 400grams.
I asked for a tea that was recommended to me that was purported to be made from leaf from "100 year old trees". The shop assistance whose english was reasonable seemed to understand what I was looking for and handed me this cake. She wasnt able to give any more info. The tea was cheap so I purchased it.
Quality label inside is dated 2005

The arched line in Pink: Yun Nan Meng Ku Bai Nian Gu Shu Cha Bing Hundred Year Old Tree Cake from Mengku, Yunnan
This cake was produced in the Shuang Jiang region in Mengku, Yunnan.
There is a round green sticker inside over the neifei (square ticket embedded on the cake with red prints) to state that this cake passed the quality & safety control checks.
You bought only one cake? Drink it over several years, this cake is promising.

wow ! thanks for the quick response. Yes only bought one cake. Like the tea, I too was a little green at the time, and to be honest had no idea what I was buying. The purchase was purely based on a comment I read somewhere (I think it may even been from this group), that there was a reasonably good tea from 100 year old trees for about $US18 to be had from Yue Hwa in HK.
This is the only information I had at the time. I paid $HK80 which was about $A13 at the time, so the price was about right. I wasn't certain that I got the message across to the sales assistant.
But apparently I did ! I feel rather chuffed now as this was my first purchase of a tea cake.
