My most extraordinary whisky memory is about a certain bottle of Black Bottle ;-) Together with a small group of friends, I was hiking in the Cairngorms. We set off from the youth hostel in Inverey, camped out at Loch Avon, and then headed for Faindouran Lodge down the river Avon. We'd run out of whisky (or any other alcohol) at Loch Avon, and thought the Faindouran Lodge night would be the first alcohol-free one. We got there rather tired and wet - the weather being typically Scottish - only to find a small ex-Irn Bru bottle filled with... Black Bottle whisky waiting for us on the table. And a note saying that the previous visitor to Faindouran Lodge couldn't drink it all, and didn't feel like carrying it any more. So they left it to us :-) We drank it to their health. Fantastic whisky :-)
