I'll get a bottle of Benriach Single Cask from the cask they were working on when I took the pictures. They put the malt into Rum Casks and I can't wait to recieve it ;-)

Hey, Raj and all the rest of you Scotch lovers,
I'm joining the Friday night get together a bit late, but I hoist a goodly quaff of Aberlour a'bunadh to the four corners of the Earth, which, for me, unfortunately, converges in what I believe is the middle of the Indian Ocean at 34.18 S lat, 61.63 E long. The whisky is cask bottled at 60.2% abv. With this one, I find that a few drops of water improve the nose and the taste. It is, a most delightful and robust dram. I never add ice to my spirits, because as it melts, it keeps diluting my drink.

My first real Scotch, after having only tried Cutty Sark and the like. The Glenlivet 12yo is my reference point.

I'm enjoying a Laphroaig 10 year old Cask Strength @ 55.7% ABV, non-chill filtered.
Nose: Classic Laphroaig "Islaydine," a touch of tar and oiled rope. I was raised in Florida in the sea salt and seaweed air and as promised, I can detect it on the nose.
The body is medium with a warming feel that spreads quickly. On the palate the Laphroaig is powerful yet smooth as silk. It starts out instantly honey sweet and quickly gets drier on a strong phenolic peat taste that has a very balanced background of allspice, raisin, and oak. The smoke is there but never strong or overpowering.
This is one cask strength whisky that requires no water to tame it. But, to see the effects of water I added a two to one ratio of water to whisky. The water tames the warmth of the alcohol and brings out the sweetness and smoke. I must say I like it better without water but the water doesn't spoil it and I can make it last a little longer.
Okay, this is great stuff so with a toast to the four corners of the globe I wish you all a good dram and happy life.

Someone mentioned Laphroaig a bit (or was it a lot?) earlier, and I had a wee dram of it at that time. I've never had their CS. You make it sound good. Another one on my Christmas Wish List. ;-)
[ . . . ]I'll occasionally add a few drops of water to my Aberlour a'bunadh, as I did earlier, but, in general, I like to sip it as bottled, savor its flavor as I swirl it around in my mouth and when enough saliva has admixed with it, swallow it down.
