Laphroaig 10/15: same base?

I like Laphroaig 15-year better than almost any other broadly available whisky. (Too bad about the price...) Don't care for the 10yo much at all, though I know some have the reverse opinion.

Anyone know if it's just age, or if they use different methods or selected casks for one or the other?

Thanks-

Ctenos

I'm interested in this as well. I like the ten, and have tried the 15 only once.

As a general rule, ageing softens the peat and smoke and lets the background (sherry, etc.) show through a bit more. Lots of exceptions, however.....

Laphroaig had to be God's personal sipping stuff...............................

Bought my first bottle yesterday....I actually laughed at the first sip! Still amazed that anyone would drink this by choice AND that I keep going back for more! The strangest, best, worst, most interesting, most curious SMS I've ever had! Gonna have to "convince" myself to have another dram tonight....and tomorrow....and the day after.
