Glenfarclas 10 bottlings??

My favorite "every night" dram is Glenfarclas 10. Just about every third month, here in North Carolina, it even goes on "sale" in our local state-run booze emporia. Always used to buy it in the tall, narrow metal tubes.

But lately it's appearing in shorter fatter bottles in cardboard tubes. Not that the packaging means anything. But the whisky's different too. Maybe deeper and richer. Can't quite put me finger on it. Still peppery though.

How have you found it??

Nick,

I have a Glenfarclas 17 in a cardboard tube that's sort of brownish maroon colored with gold vertical stripes. The bottle is of the short, stout, bulging neck style at 43% ABV. Its the only bottle of Glenfarclas I've had the opportunity to own. Its a darn fine dram of whisky but they charge a premium price here in Alabama so its a special occasion drink for me. What are the major taste differences between the recent and past bottlings?

I've noticed an explosion of marketing changes in scotch which include a lot of changes in labeling and the presentation tubes. I'm not sure if the changes in taste profiles are just the standard deviation from year to year or if the distilleries are adjusting their ingredients and processes. What the heck is going on with our whisky?

Just finished a Glenfarclas 10 tonight. It was in the usual tall bottle. Quite good for the money.
