Hi everyone , just visited Locke's distillery in Kilbeggan , Ireland yesterday. A charming place built in the 1800s. Unfortunately they no longer produce whiskey there. Sampled the 6yr.old Lockes standard brand , blended Irish. I thought it was fantastic for such a young blend. Tried it first neat but when water was added it totally disolved and tasted weak- 3 stars. Also there is a fantastic little whiskey shop there that sells all the Cooley distillery whiskeys at very good prices. Picked up a bottle of Connemara cask strength peated single malt for €45 when the usual off licence prices is €60. Had a small drop of the Connemara last night when I got home - all I can say is wow!! What a massive tasting whiskey, an explosion of fruit followed by turf aftertaste. This is the biggest whiskey I have ever tasted.
