Interesting notes, Bill. This wine was one of the last of the old style Caymus regular bottling, back in the time when they didn't give them the overoaking that the SS received (not that the SS couldn't handle it, though). I doubt that many of the regular Cabs produced there after '94 have much of a chance of lasting 14 years as well as this one has *sigh* OTOH, I'll never know because I stopped buying Caymus Cabs in the mid-'90s. :(

I have some 1994 - perhaps I should (find) open some?

Yes, by all means! Perhaps on your next trip to Los Angeles? ;^D

1987 Pedroncelli Dry Creek Cabernet - a fairly Burgundian skunky nose to start this one off was a counter-indication to cabernet, but on palate it was cab, and very French in style aside from the nose. Good punch left in this one and nice length. Good showing.

Hi, Bill -

Have you ever had the 1976 Pedroncelli Cabernet? That was an astoundingly nice wine from a drought year. The BV GdL was really good that year too.

Yes I have, Tom.

The Pedroncellis lasted amazingly well, or at least the older vintages did.
