New World vs. Old World

The Tremblay costs 10.00 euros at this shop. They don't actually carry any of the New World wines - they concentrate on Burgundy, with some German, Austrian and Italian wines.

Well that would explain why a New World Vs Old World comparative tasting had no Australian wines. Guess they wanted to ensure the French wines were seen in a good light...:>)

The same thought crossed my mind - I would have liked to seen a shiraz from Oz and a Sav Blanc from New Zealand, rather than having SA for those choices. The SA sav blanc was very odd - none of the grapefruit or gooseberry I am used to from Kim Crawford or Nautilus; the dominant flavor to me was nutty.

The hosts did make an effort to match price classes as much of possible, with the only huge difference being with the viogniers and the pinots. The viogniers were EUR 13,30 (NW) and EUR 30.65; pinot EUR 20.10 (NW) and EUR 10.00.
