TN: 2 Rieslings, 1 Arneis, 1 Iberian pink

Saturday dinner was a Thai-style ground pork (basically larb) in lettuce leaves, with rice/furikake and bok choy. 2009 Steinmetz Riesling QbA (#06, Mosel) is pretty dry, with apple and pit fruit flavors and a hint of ginger. Nice, fresh, good food wine. B

Sunday I did bbq chicken breast on grill, while Betsy made a lavash pissaladiere and salad. 2010 Castellroig Ull de Llebre rosado is a wine I've liked a lot over the summer, but this bottle didn't really lift me. Full bodied and fleshy, but without the verve I remembered. The bottle or me? B-/C+

Monday she made polenta with maiitake, shiitake, and cremini, with an arugula/avocado salad. Wine was the 2009 Grappoli Arneis (Roero)- sweet easy fruit, an "Italian-white-nutty-note", clean without oak flavors, maybe not Giacosa but not priced like Giacosa is now. B/B+

Tonight chicken meatballs with raita, Japanese brown rice, broccoli, and fried green tomatoes. Wine is the 2009 Donnhoff "Oberhauser Leistenberg" Riesling Kabinett. On sweeter side of Kabinett but well balanced, very good acidity, mineral notes, fresh white fruits. Very good length, nice wine. B+/A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
