TN: Fontodi X2, CFE, Albarino, Fronsac

2001 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling Lemon, wet rocks, and petrol. Good acids, long finish, drinking well. Holds up well over 3 days. A-/B+
Betsy’s nephew and his girlfriend came to dinner, Betsy made enough chicken cacciatore over pasta and broccoli for 2 nights.
2004 Fontodi Chianti Classico Black cherry and dried cherry, leather, in a good place. B+
2004 Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve Still some oak sticking out a bit, quite tannic, I think this will be great but for now the CC is drinking better. B-/B for now
With mustard/lime mackerel, sauteed bay scallops, celeriac/turnip/rutabaga mash, kale salad
2016 Zarate Val do Salnes Albarino ( Rias Baixas) Good acids, grapefruit and Granny Smith, good food wine. B
Last night I made marinated flatiron, twice-cooked sweet potato with garam masala yogurt, braised napa cabbage with bacon, arugula salad
2005 Ch. Puy Guilhem (Fronsac) The tannin has finally stepped into the background here, dark pluot fruit w ith some smoke, moderate finish. Not very complex but hey it was $10 ten ye ars ago. B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
