TN Lanson and Reserve de Barton 2000

New Years Eve supper, with some children so did not produce any goodies.

Warm prawn buttery salad. Lanson Black Label NV, bought over a year ago on a BOGOF deal at Tescos, Pale gold with a vigorous mousse, bisquits and creme brulee nose, soft fruit the complexity and mature and long. If I had this blind I would have sworn i it was Grand Marque vintage, even the 90. Shows that keeping NV for some time reveals a more vintage character.

Rack of lamb with seasonal vegetables. Reserve de Leoville Barton 2000. Decanted two hours. Deep purple edge, tight nose, very dumb, tried to winkle out some spice and cedar, tannic mouthful and somewhat mean..........hmmm, too young and dumb, but enough fruit to hold it together....try again one year

Happy New Year , afwers.
