Wine Inventory Software

Sorry all. I know this has been asked before but...

I *finally* moved up to WinXP. I've been using WineVentory for years. It was written for Win 3.1 and won't run in WinXP. I liked the program because it was pretty basic and didn't contain a lot of useless bells and whistles. I'm hoping someone can recommend a similar software program. I know many people here create their own custom inventory program using a spreadsheet (Excel, I believe), but I've never used one (a word processor is about my speed!). TIA.

Cheers, Jack

Jack,

I've used Multimedia Wine Companion for years, back from the M$95 days. I do not know if it is still produced, but is listed as :

They list a phone # 904.794.7070, but I do not know if it is still active. I just migrated it to XP-Media Edition, and it works fine. It will output the dBase to Excell, or, in my case, to WordPerfect, should I need it.

One caveat, adjust the "drink-by" dates a bit, as I feel they are on the short side. The program comes with quite a bit of data in respects to your wine, but you can adjust all of this, as well.

Let us know which program you land on, as that would be of interest to the group.

Some have espoused a preference for "Cellar," in the past, but I have not tried it.

I use and like Cellar! -

But I would also recommend CellarTracker as well.

Cellar! is more traditional database-based software that installs on your pc, whereas CellarTracker is web-based.

The feature they share that I find most useful is a shared database of producers and tasting notes that comes from all the users of each product. So you rarely have to enter all the info for a particular producer yourself, and you can search for tasting notes to see how others think a wine coming along.

Both are available as free trials.

Ditto from me on the recommendation for Cellar!. That's what I use.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I will look into all the suggestions and then let the group know what I decide.
