Winery Locator Web Site

I've been working on a winery locator web site called Catch Wine and thought I'd see if anyone had feedback about the site.

The site contains a list of all the wineries in the United States and makes them searchable by name and geographic location. Google Maps lets you instantly see where the wineries are located and provides driving directions. Just last week I added a feature called "Winery Explorer" that lets you locate wineries near any location in the US.

Anyone have suggestions to make the site easier to use? What features are missing?

Thanks, Mike

I entered Sebastopol CA and the first winery shown was in Arizona. The next one was in Utah. None of the wineries shown were in California.

Figuring that you just didn't implement the comma thing, I added the comma (which is not the way the USPS does it, btw). Same results.

I then looked down your list of popular states, and California was not there. I'd say that is a serious oversight.

Anywah, I clicked on the Palo Verde link, and got the address, phone, and map, but no web site. I'd say it's essential to link to their home page too. (I especially find this with travel sites - no links to the home pages of hotels and such).

Nice idea but not ready for prime time yet.

The site worked rather well for Virginia, including maps, tho' I know at least one that is missing. Perhaps that is because, AFAIK, they are not yet making their own wine (?).

But where is California? :-)

It's missing numerous wineries. Entering Solvang, Buellton or Santa Ynez, California results in wineries in Arizona and other states to be listed. Ironically entering an Arizona city lists some but not all of the same wineries.

If the accuracy and search abilities were perfected it's a beneficial site.

There are 32 wineries shown for New York State. I believe the number is about five times that.

I have just added most of the Western states, so the only ones remaining are California and New York.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions and I hope you find the site useful!

The biggest wine producing state in the country should be 1st, not last!! New York is in the top 4 as well. Some day I'll have to make it out to visit some of the NY wineries.
