Chocolate Wine

Ok, not a REAL chocolate wine but I thought I would share the following:

I got some "Stevia" from the health food store. Stevia now also comes in chocolate flavor.

Soooo, I thought, why not add some to a glass of some of my not so great wine. To my surprise it was quite good. You could definitely taste the the "chocolate" flavor. I used two drops but I think you could use only one and tell a big difference. If you have some wine to experiment with - or if you just like chocolate, you might give it a try. It is probably definitely easier than trying to make a chocolate wine from scratch.

BTW. I forgot to mention Stevia has ZERO calories. Happy Holidays to all.

And not only that - it's all natural. My wife loves it in tea.

Yep, it was red wine. Give it a try. It might be "liquid panty hose remover" :)

Dang, the local health food stores do not have the liquid or flavors. So I must order online, so a question - was it milk chocolate or dark chocolate? I also see Chocolate Raspberry, which is tempting. At $10 a bottle, I'd rather get the one proven good. smile.

I used the dark chocolate. A couple ounces goes a LONG way when you are only using a drop or two per glass.

How much would a person need for a 750 ml. bottle?

,

You could start with about 4 drops per bottle and work up from there if you want more chocolate taste.

A bit of a twist on this thread; I have toyed with the idea of adding a dry hot pepper to a mediocre red; some day I will do it. Anyone add anything unusual to a grape wine to good effect?

I wondered the same thing. thanks to Jim, I ordered Stevia in Dark Choco and Dark Choco w/Raspberry - liquid. A couple drops changes a red wine taste, rather nicely for something different. After adding 5 drops to a glass, I wondered if a hot pepper - might give it a cool twist, but could not decide how to do it. Adding Cheyenne pepper powder, was not a good thing. (1/8th teaspoon did not dissolve)so the floatees hit the mouth HOT. smile.
