PNW beer recommendations

My wife is headed up to Portland this weekend for bussiness and I've managed to talk her into being my mule and bringing back some beer. I live in the SF Bay Area so I can already get my hands on a lot of the beer coming out of OR but I know there is much that I have never had. I'm looking for recommendations of IPAs and pilsners or other good lagers (I know its tough to find good lagers in the PNW but there's gotta be some) please feel free to reccomend anything else that is FG as well.

Thanks,

mike

Hi Mike,

Since you didn't list some of the beers you can get from SF, I'll take a chance and recommend one fine IPA.. Bridgeport IPA. Other Oregon Brews(no experience with) include Siletz. Looks like they have 2 lagers(Lovin Lager & Wooly Bully) ad an IPA(Paddle Me) Hope that helps a wee bit.

Best regards, Bill

Siletz Lovin' lager ain't bad at all. The Wooly Bully is "interesting"...it's their take on malt liquor. They also make an outstanding bock, but I've never seen it in bottles, only at the brewery on tap.

Send her by Belmont Station and ask them for some recommendations. She'd get her best results, of course, if she could call you on a cell phone while she's there so she doesn't end up buying something you already have.

She flying home? or driving?

See if Full Sail Capsize (double pilsner) is still in stock. Some of the best lagers are from Elysian, but they don't get to Portland.

There's Bridgeport Old Knucklehead if you like good barleywines. Hale's Mongoose is an excellent IPA. Ditto Pyramid IPA. Rogue Brutal Bitter.
