ton's of beers

I was in a liquor store the other day. One I have been in before but not for alcohol so I never paid attention. It's in a distant city so not a place I frequent regularly. But it's only 30 miles away and a town I'm in at least twice a week minimum. This time I was looking for alcohol and learned that this place has probably 300 or more different brands of beer. I went in to get one of those alcoholic energy drinks and saw all these beers. I was in there about 45 minutes trying to pick a couple to try. I kept picking one then noticing something that looked more intriguing. I finally settled on one from Brazil called Wild Palm Lager and one from Austria called Steigl goldbrau. I like them both although neither made me jump out of my seat. They were not priced but 2 beers and a "Sparks" cost me $8.69, so they were not cheap. I have kinda fallen out of the "must try every brew on earth" phase but after discovering this store's beer inventory I think I will get back into the swing. One cool thing is, they have them set up by style and country of origin. Then the low inventory stock is all together such as the Brazilian one. So much for trying to get rid of my beer gut lmao.

You're on the right track, Hank. If you want an alcoholic energy drink...Try a good beer and a shot of espresso!

Wots a "Sparks" then Lew? And what's an alcoholic energy drink? Red Bull? Why would anyone want to try one?

"Sparks" is kind of a orangey tasting soda with alcohol and the other stuff like Red Bull. I agree is it does kind of defeat the purpose but I like some of them. I only drink them before I am going to sing. They relax you a bit with the alcohol but then keep you a little more alert because of the other stuff. But the real reason is, and I have no idea why, they clear the phlegm and such off my vocal cords and make my voice more clear. I don't know, maybe it's all a big marketing ploy but they are quite popular. As for a good beer with a shot of espresso, actually I can't stand coffee so that is not a real option lol.

When I was in Belgium sampling beers last year over thanksgiving I learned the fine art of drinking 2-3 beers followed by an espresso chaser with a pint of water after every 5. That, combined with regular trips to visit the strange hole in the ground in the WC can give you a bit of stamina required for a sufficient tasting adventure.

Maybe a nice Rogue Mocha Porter would serve your needs? ;^)
