Final SG not in beer bottling range

I bought an Coopers Real-ale kit with a Brew enhancer. The Starting Gravity was about 1.080 but the final gravity ended up at about 1.016 and it didnt go any lower. I bottle it any as the fermentation had stopped and it looks quite clear through the bottle. I haven't opened any yet as it is to early.

Can anyone tell me why the Final Gravity didnt go down to 1.002 or something like that.

Cheers

The yeast could have gotten euthanized; there could have been sugars unfermentable. Whatever

That's some brew u got Kerry . Your start sg was high because u used Brew enhancer so it will not come down much lower. If u take your start SG subtract your final SG divide by 7.64 . That will give the Brews alcohol volume in %. So u got a Brew about 8.3 al/vol. Good Luck. J.B.

Don't worry about it. Your original gravity was on the high end, so it makes sense for you to have a relatively high final gravity. Personally when I use extract I can never get any lower than 1.016. There are simply too many unfermentable sugars in the extract. I'm guessing you're in the same situation.
