Is trader joes' selling irradiated spice

It appears Trader Joe's does not reply to questions about why they no longer sell or if current spices they do sell are nuked, some call it irradiated. No phone number on TJ site and local stores have no clue.

Whole foods has Spicely non nuked spice, tomorrow I'll check if Penzey's does or doesn't.

What must Trader Joe's be afraid of to not answer a simple question. Are spice they sell nuked or not.

And price of Spicely is nearly 3 times as much.

I'm not sure what this has to do with tea.

They probably don't know. They buy it from a supplier who buys it from a supplier who buys it from someplace else. Trader Joe's is so far from the actual origin of the material that it's not funny.

Personally, I'd pay more for irradiation for many spices because I don't like opening up my paprika to find that I have a box of little insects. For others it's superfluous.

Your best bet, though, is to talk to a wholesale operation where they actually do the processing and packaging themselves, like Frontier Herbs or San Francisco Herb and Spice Company.
