Interesting Opportunity... some help needed

Oh how I do love Scotch Whiskey... I probably like Laphroaig 15 year old best. I did enjoy a bottle of Port finished Glenmorangie. I find Glenlivet and Glenfiddich both bland and boring. I guess I enjoy the more medicinal and peaty whiskies, probably of the Islay type.

Anyway, my Mother and Father in Law are visiting Scotland in a couple weeks. they are going to Edinburgh, what can I have them pick me up that I would otherwise be stretched to find in the states?

Well, Glen Turret is usually hard to find. It is more a malty-spicey drink though, along the lines of Cragganmore or Longmorn I think. I really like the 15 year old.

Maybe they can find you some of the PC 5 (Port Charlotte 5) which is only in limited release and should be peaty. There's a picture of it here:

If they are going to Inverary, have them go to Loch Fyne Whiskies, and have them get something there. I think they do some special 'one off' types of whiskies.

That's all I can suggest, as I expect most whiskies are available

*somewhere* in the U.S.

Well more like too much to say .. the biggest tourist draw in Edinburgh is the Royal Mile. On the Royal Mile are a few really good Whisky stores.. personally I recommend a store called "Royal Mile".

Prices in Edinburgh are higher than in much of the US.. your budget will be the determining factor. There are lots of different types to choose from.. If you can't pick your own winner from here

have your in laws go to the store and have the clerk call you collect..
