First Trip To Somona - Help Needed

Hi,

I'm finally just weeks away (May3rd) from my first trip to Sonoma. I'm doing an entire west coast trip with my wife for our first anniversery and unfortunately Somona is only getting 2 nights worth of time. We arrive in the late afternoon on Wednesday and will be checking out Friday but will have time to hang around Sonoma until around 5pm or so... Oh, we are staying at the Farmhouse Inn.

That said, I'm looking to maximize my experience there and am hoping some of the more experienced folks can help... My wife and I definetly want to make it to a few of the vineyards, see the town, and I've heard there are some great cheese places as well (we both LOVE cheese). We also want to go to some good restaurants. Our other dilemma is how we can plan to do all this with minimal driving (if possible).

Any suggestions (places to go, things to eat, how to get there, etc) are GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks, Frank

How broad a scope are you thinking? You are staying in the Russian River Valley area, no? When you say you want to see the town, which town are you referring to? Sonoma's a big county. You could spend the entire two days in RRV and hardly touch all the wineries in the area.

Yes I believe the Farmhouse Inn is in the RRV. As you probably can tell I'm totally oblivious to what it will be like out there. I'm open to any suggestions about what you think would be be good. We definetly want to go to a few wineries but we also want to experience anything else that is worth it. Perhaps there are certain wineries that offer a bit more than just good wine (like wineries that double as an artisan cheese shop, etc).

Any thoughts are welcome...once I have the names of some places I'll research further to make our final plans.

Thanks again.
