Help requested, wine values needed

Jan 07, 2004 2 Replies

I received 5 bottles of wine in barter for some computer consulting services I performed last year for an individual. I'd like to go ahead and fill out my 1099B and get it out of the way, and for that I need to get a reasonable idea of the value of this wine. Can anyone tell me a reliable place to look for this information?

Girard Napa Valley 2000 Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet 1998 V. Sattui Madeira (can't find year) Grand Archer Chardonnay 2001 Clos du Bois Merlot 2000 I enjoy wine, but I don't know much about it. Many thanks to anyone who can help me locate this information. I want to get the taxes over with ASAP. The quicker I zap this stuff to Taxbrain, the better.

Try winesearcher.com. You will need to use the winery name for the Morisoli Vineyard. The ony Morisoli vineyard cab that I can think of off the top of my head is produced by Elyse. ALso the Grand Archer is probably Arrowood if my memory serves me correctly.

as far as relative values go.

Girard Napa Valley 2000---$40.00 Elyse Morisoli 1998----------$60.00 Arrowood Chard Grand Archer--$15.00 Clos Du Bois Merlot 2000--$20.00 Sattui Madeira-$20.00 Bi!!

What a cool idea! If I were some sort of freelancer, I would consider bartering for wine. Alas, the golden handcuffs of corporate life. I did receive a bottle of Dom Perignon as a holiday gift from a client once, however. That was nice.

Based on the value of the services you rendered and the time you spent, do you feel that the deal worked in your favor? And what's more important, what did you think of the wines?
