A TRULY NASTY BREW!

Since I'd never tried the stuff, I picked up a twelve can pack of "Josef Hoffbauer Ice" at Kroger on the way home from the firm today - and I judge it AWFUL! Even "Steel" tastes better than this rancid goat piss... strike that... even rancid goat piss would taste better than "Josef Hoffbauer Ice"! So much for that brew!

p.s. Even with the 5.8% ABV, this stuff is NASTY!

the worst swill I ever tasted was called Delirium Tremons, supposedly a micro from Belgium, I'd compare it's taste to paint thinner for lack of a better reference

That's too bad. I'd say it was definitely FG!

Dude, you either got a bad bottle, or are confusing "different" with "bad". DT is an awesome beer (though I had some on tap that tasted like maybe the line hadn't been cleaned, and/or it had been aged badly).

If you really want to talk nasty, try to find some Minnesota Brew; truly hideous stuff.

I don't think the worst beer ever is made anymore -- Le Pecheur 36:15 was TRULY an abomination...

I've had times where I've thought Delerium Tremens was one step removed from paint thinner. The stuff is very alcoholic, and at times the fusel alcohols get way out of hand and create a beer that drinks way too hot. When it's on its game it's a very good beer (I wouldn't go as far as awesome, personally). But I've had bottles that were just bad.

No such beer by that name that I'm aware of. There's the now-defunct Minnesota Brewing Co., which was a big contact brewer (did Pete's for a while, IIRC, and I know they did Pike's foray into bottling/contract brewing several years back). They also brewed some house brands as well as taking on the old Grain Belt brand. Their house beers were Pig's Eye and Landmark. Both were unremarkable on good days.

Same brewer -- I'd had Pig's Eye in the past, and while I wasn't impressed, I at least wasn't disgusted either.

But YEARS later (say 2-3 years ago), we found the Minnesota Brew (or possibly Minnesota Beer) at a grocery store in a small town (Berlin WI to be specific), and since we were on a cheap beer kick, and it WAS cheap, we picked some up.

Mistake! Imagine the hideous corn taste of Rhinelander combined with flavors that, while not exactly OFF aren't anywhere near on... We pawned the stuff off on anyone visiting who didn't know better, and after they figured it out, on anyone who "lost" (a drinking game, did something "bad", etc), until it was gone.

The can should have been a warning -- it was bright blues & greens (like pine trees & sky) with red highlights. Truly garish. But at least a worthy match for the beer I guess... Why waste a pretty can on a shitty beer?
