Bass Ale freshness

Does anyone know how to read the date code on Bass Ale? I bought a 12 pack last night, drank one and it was stale tasting, bitter. I went to a different store tonight and bought a 6 pack and it taste great, they way I'm used too. (Bass if my favorite.)

The stale stuff has a date code of 11F5 3SK and the fresh tasting stuff has a date code 06E5 4SY

I found this site:

formatting link
which states that "Bass uses a four-character bottling code. The first two digits are the day of the month, a letter is the month, and a digit is the year."

If this is true, then what is the month code? Is the F on the stale beer for February? If so, than what month is E on the fresh stuff? How long should a bottle of Bass stay fresh?

I plan on bringing the stale stuff back to the store.

Thanks, Scott

My guess would be F is for June, and E is for May. The "stale" beer probably hadn't been shipped or stored well, rather than actually being out of date. But again, that's just a guess.

I will only buy beer from one store as all the others consistently had off-taste beer, probably due to storage. Buy from the store where it tastes good.
