Goes into effect July 1st. Raised the limit from 6% to 14%. Georgia beer lovers should start seeing new beers in the stores in July.

I meant to respond a while back to the guy who said this means Georgia residents can now get "real beer". I have no use for any such limit and enjoy a lot of beers with more than 6% but I think he was missing the point of good beer if he thinks beer has to be other 6% to be "real"- lots of great beers (many possibly not available in Georgia now or afterwards) that have less than 6% alcohol- starting with Berliner Weisse with a messily 3% and two of my favorite pilsners, Urquell and Jever, both of which have less alcohol than Budweiser. And there's a lot of mediocre beer with more than 6% (can you say "malt liquor"?).
Raised the limit from 6% to 14%.
So, where'd they pull 14% from? Why bother with any limit if it's a fermented (not distilled or fortified) product? Still some nice beers not gonna be available...
I agree he's missed the point. The new law means we should see a lot more different beers that were otherwise unavailable. I have a lot of favorites under 6%, but I would like to try some those others over 6% that have not been available. Sam Adams Double Bock was here for a while, then I guess everyone found out it was illegal and I haven't seen it in a long while. It was a favorite and will be nice to have it back. And maybe we will see some of the big Ales that are not available now. I haven't seen Berliner Weisse around my parts, but Urquell is here although I'm not too fond of it. Don't know where they came up with 14%.
