Can't buy in Milwaukee area anymore now for about a month. Did 3 Floyd's pull out of Wisc for some reason?

I think they did because they can't meet demand in the IN/IL market AND the WI market. But stop by Discount Liquor and ask Marge; she might have a better answer than that.

Russ Perry Jr. put down his beer long enough to post:

No 3 Floyd's in Ohio right now either.

I recently read that 3 Floyd's was somewhat under distributing currently and is getting set to institute a price raise. The idea was that they didn't want retailers stocking up at the current price, so they aren't delivering much until the new prices go into effect. That was not from an article but a BeerAdvocate forum poster 'supposedly in the know', so take it for what it's worth. I would sincerly lose respect for FFFs if I found out it was true.

On the other hand.. I have heard that they are struggling to meet more local demand and may be shrinking their markets.

Why, because they are good businessmen? The ill-advised use of ethanol for motor fuel is driving up the price of corn for food, feed, etc. That has moved some demand to grains, not only wheat but barley, and fuel prices have gone up which raises the cost of everything in general.

I can see why they would like to avoid selling a lot of product at low profit, nothing evil there. And for a good beer reason, some dealers would buy a lot, store it poorly, and we would read posts about how their quality had dropped.

This is not a political forum, but if you think corn ethanol belongs in cars, look up butanol in wikipedia. Educational.

I did not mean I would lose respect for 3F's just because they raised prices. I understand there is all kinds of shortages in beer making ingredients that are affecting brewers. I would lose some respect if they were intentionally witholding stock from retailers until their price hike goes into effect just to ensure those retailers can't buy a shipment at the current pricepoint. There is a distinction there.

I think they are worried about "stocking up" with a large supply, which would not only cut profit but risk poor storage and sale of bad beer.
