I'm back from..

..the Colorado Brewers Fest and I had a very good time. :^) Lots of nice brews(all Co) and some not so nice ones. Re the former, I had a

*very* nice Bohemian style pilsner from Jarre Creek Ranch and re the latter, a Porter from a brewery whose name escapes me...thin body, watery as hell...yuck.

I spent a bit longer there than I had planned so before I left town, I decided to just stop at Supermarket Liquors as it was right on my route to I-25. Not being a store big on Belgians, I picked up some "basic" beers like Stone IPA and Ruination, Avery IPA, Dale's Pale Ale, Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye and Racer 5, Great Divide Hercules Double IPA and Oak Aged Yeti Impy Stout, Anderson Valley Hop Ottin, Breckenridge Small Batch 471 Double IPA, and a sixer of SN Bigfoot 2005.

I promise, next time I'll be a bit more discriminating. lol

Now, back to attending to my wee bit of sun burn..

I was in Colorado at the beginning of the month and brought home a lot of the same stuff. There was way too much to choose from. Somehow I can't get excited about drinking the Yeti in our 90 degree heat!

Yeah I was going to be there but my wife had the bad timing to be giving birth to our daughter at around 3:30 in the afternoon on Saturday!

Jarre Creek Ranch also makes a really terrific hefeweize. Unfortunately I think they are doomed as their nice new 3 story brewpub in Castle Rock has had a sign saying "closed for renovation" on it for some time now. I managed to get a hold of their brewer who told me the owner of the property decided to put it up for sale. I don't know why selling the building would necessitate the closure of the brewpub but maybe more is going on.

Did you get a chance to try any Ft. Collins brewery stuff? I really like their Kidd and Z lagers...

Dang, I think its time I had a road trip. I've been wanting to try the Oak Aged Yeti and any/all of the Bear Republic beers for a long time...

I'm one of those weirdos that likes malt in the summer and hops in the winter. So stouts work for me now! (although imperial? dunno). But settling down around 9-10 o'clock as its getting dark, a slightly cooled stout or porter is as good as I want!

(and then in December it'll be PU or similar on the cold evenings)
