McEwan's Scotch Ale

I'm not much impressed by this one; there just isn't a lot going on in the flavor department. The Old Chub I drank last night (which, I note, is deemed by its brewers a "Scottish Style Ale" and not a Scotch Ale) was much tastier.

Certainly not worth the ~US$11 a sixer in Casper. I'd rather have Traquair House Ale in town. ;^)

I had some of this back in the summer and loved it. Just bought a case last night ($34) and it seems both stronger and a bit more bitter than I remember. I still like it, but it doesn't seem to go down as smooth.

You can't beat Traquair House but you might try Belhaven Wee Heavy and MacAndrews Stock Ale

I've tried MacAndrews' Scotch Ale and very much enjoyed it. I will certainly try the Stock Ale when I find some. Is this a newish beer?

MacAndrews Scotch ale was one of the best darned ales I've ever tasted. We had it in town years ago. Then....it was replaced by the Stock Ale. Good stuff too but not as flavourful. I think MacAndrews was bought out by..umm...Newcastle & United? I wish I could remember the exact details.
